We researched and experimented with several fabrics until we found what we believe has the best reputation for standing up to the elements with the least amount of disintegration. It's guaranteed not to fade or breakdown for five years. It is also made right here in the USA and we like that! It has a water repellant built into the fabric, but the manufacturer does not call it waterproof because it BREATHES. That's a real plus!
